Härjedalsfjällen

This mountain area offers excellent opportunities for both day and multi-day hikes. Funäsfjällen is also an area with a wide range of other activities. It’s easy to plan a variety of day hikes from well-known places such as Ramundberget, Bruksvallarna, Funäsdalen, Tänndalen and Fjällnäs. In several places you can also take a cable car up the mountain. Mountain parking is available at the border of the alpine zone. If you want to hike the peaks, you have a lot to choose from here. The Härjedalsfjällen area also contains Ljungdalen/Kläppen, which are the starting point for hikes to Helagsfjället, where you can find STF Helags Mountain Station. From there, the hike can continue northwards toward Sylarna and Storulvån, or south toward STF Fältjägarstugan and on to Ramundberget.

We have devised a couple of day and multi-day hikes that we recommend for your first mountain hike.

Ljungdalen/Kläppen – Storulvån 47 km

A classic hike over heathland, through mighty mountain ranges and past many small tarns. Apart from a few kilometres at the beginning and at the end, the trail runs through the alpine zone far above the tree line. Along the way are the mountain ranges of Sylarna and Helags, and you stay at the mountain stations of the same name. Many people choose to stay a few extra days to climb peaks such as Sylarna (1762 m) and Helags (1797 m). There are also other lower peaks that are just as fun to climb. Reindeer herding is carried out in the entire area, and hikers must show consideration.
